Waiting on Wednesday

Sorry if you have already seen this post! I didn’t mean to publish it 😦

This is a weekly meme hosted over at Breaking the Spine (http://breakingthespine.blogspot.com.au/) where we show off books we are eagerly anticipating!

My pick for this week is…

The Romeo Club by Rebekah L. Purdy

The Romeo Club

Publication date: March 25th 2014

Goodreads synopsis:

What happens when you agree to help your brother “de-nerdify” so he can catch the attention of the popular Chloe Anders, and to everyone’s surprise, he actually lands her?

And what if his equally geeky friends come running with girl wish lists of their own, offering money for your services?

Well, if you’re sixteen-year-old, Delyla Denson, then you start The Romeo Club. A secret club where she’ll teach these guys how talk, act, and be cool around girls. It’s a win-win situation.

She’ll get enough money for the awesome prom dress she’s had her eye on, and the guys, well, they’ll get dates and maybe learn how to do something other than beat the next level on their video games.

There are only two problems with this plan. One, her quarterback/track star boyfriend is getting jealous of how much time she’s spending away from him and decides to try and figure out what’s going on. And two, Delyla is kind of falling for her brother’s BFF, Trey who she’s been hanging out with a lot more. And who thanks to her help, has caught the attention of the beautiful, perfect, and popular, Portia Rickard. With Portia and Trey heating up, Delyla realizes that maybe the person she’s meant to be with has been in front of her all this time.

But falling for Trey means she’ll have to take drastic measures including sabotage, with a capital S.

Why am I waiting?

If you have read the synopsis, the chances are that you know why I am waiting. It sounds SO good! I have a soft spot for books like this in my bookish heart.

Waiting on Wednesday

Dangerous Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Dangerous Creatures (Dangerous Creatures, #1)

Goodreads synopsis:

A new series returns to the world of Beautiful Creatures. Some loves are cursed…others are dangerous.

Ridley Duchannes will be the first to tell you that she’s a bad girl. She’s Dark. She’s a Siren. You can never trust her, or even yourself when she’s around. Lucky for her, Wesley “Link” Lincoln can never seem to remember that; quarter Incubus or not, his heart is Mortal when it comes to Ridley. When Link heads to New York City to start a music career, Ridley goes along for the ride-and she has her own reasons. As if leaving small-town Gatlin for the big city, trying to form a band, and surviving life with a partially reformed Siren isn’t hard enough already, Link soon learns he has a price on his head that no Caster or Mortal can ever pay.

Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, the #1 New York Times bestselling coauthors of Beautiful Creatures, are back and casting another magical spell. Their signature mixture of mystery, suspense, and romance, along with a dash of fun and danger, will pull fans in and leave them begging for more.

This one is coming out May  20th 2014 and is being published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

Can’t wait! I loooooved Beautiful Creatures (haven’t finished the series or seen the movie yet) but I think a story from Ridley’s perspectibe would be cool.

When the blackouts Cyn’s been having ever since her time in Sleepy Hollow start escalating, she finds herself unable to remember where she’s been or what she’s been doing. Frightened, she seeks guidance at a local church, and it’s there she meets Avian.

The unlikely pair soon discovers that her blackouts are a side effect of what she truly is—an Echo—a conduit for souls of the dead. Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that highlights releases we’re eagerly anticipating!

This weeks WoW is…

Antigoddess (Goddess War, #1)Antigoddess by Kendare Blake

Doesn’t the synopsis sound amazing?

GoodReads synopsis:

Old Gods never die…

Or so Athena thought. But then the feathers started sprouting beneath her skin, invading her lungs like a strange cancer, and Hermes showed up with a fever eating away his flesh. So much for living a quiet eternity in perpetual health.

Desperately seeking the cause of their slow, miserable deaths, Athena and Hermes travel the world, gathering allies and discovering enemies both new and old. Their search leads them to Cassandra—an ordinary girl who was once an extraordinary prophetess, protected and loved by a god.

These days, Cassandra doesn’t involve herself in the business of gods—in fact, she doesn’t even know they exist. But she could be the key in a war that is only just beginning.

Because Hera, the queen of the gods, has aligned herself with other of the ancient Olympians, who are killing off rivals in an attempt to prolong their own lives. But these anti-gods have become corrupted in their desperation to survive, horrific caricatures of their former glory. Athena will need every advantage she can get, because immortals don’t just flicker out.

Every one of them dies in their own way. Some choke on feathers. Others become monsters. All of them rage against their last breath.

The Goddess War is about to begin.

If you are unfamiliar with the author, Kendare Blake, she is the one who wrote the Anna Dressed in Blood dualogy. I have wanted to read the dualogy for a very, very long time. Plus the synopsis of this one sounds AMAZING! I can’t wait for this one!

Expected Publication: September 10th, this year.
